O desmatamento caiu em todos os biomas brasileiros em 2024, segundo dados divulgados pela rede MapBiomas<\/strong> nesta quinta-feira (15). No entanto, mesmo com a boa not\u00edcia, essa atividade continua avan\u00e7ando e o Cerrado <\/strong>perdeu 652.197 hectares: foi o ecossistema mais desmatado nesse per\u00edodo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As informa\u00e7\u00f5es fazem parte da nova edi\u00e7\u00e3o do Relat\u00f3rio Anual do Desmatamento no Brasil (RAD)<\/strong> e apontam que <\/strong>a diminui\u00e7\u00e3o das \u00e1reas desmatadas nos seis biomas foi de 32,4%. Este \u00e9 o segundo ano consecutivo de redu\u00e7\u00e3o no desmatamento. Em 2023, a retra\u00e7\u00e3o havia sido de mais de 11% em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em seis anos, o Brasil perdeu uma \u00e1rea de vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o equivalente a Coreia do Sul.\u00a0Foram 9.880.551 hectares desmatados entre 2019 a 2024\u00a0e 67% desse valor ( 6.647.146 hectares) somente na regi\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia Legal. Alcan\u00e7ar o\u00a0desmatamento zero<\/strong>\u00a0na Amaz\u00f4nia at\u00e9 2030 \u00e9 uma das\u00a0promessas de campanha do presidente Lula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matopiba e Par\u00e1 lideram desmatamento<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Os estados do Maranh\u00e3o, Tocantins, Piau\u00ed e Bahia, regi\u00e3o conhecida como Matopiba<\/strong>, concentrou 75% do desmatamento do Cerrado <\/strong>e cerca de 42% de toda a perda de vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o nativa no pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junto com o Par\u00e1<\/strong>, esses quatro estados comp\u00f5em o grupo das cinco unidades da federa\u00e7\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por 65% da \u00e1rea desmatada do Brasil em 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para se ter uma ideia do tamanho da perda de vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o, mesmo o Maranh\u00e3o reduzindo 34,3% o seu desmatamento em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 2023, ainda foi o que mais desmatou no ano passado, com 218.298,4 hectares devastados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
